A joint UP Special Task Force and Mumbai Police Crime Branch operation has produced an arrest in the February firing outside filmmaker Rohit Shetty's Juhu residence. The suspect, Pradeep Kumar, also known as Gaath, was apprehended from the Chhadami Mattha area on the Agra-Etah road in Agra, under the supervision of STF Additional Superintendent of Police Rakesh. The arrest followed technical analysis and cross-agency intelligence sharing between the two units. The February incident involved gunmen firing at Shetty Tower in Juhu, with bullets striking the glass railing of Shetty's balcony. No injuries were reported, but security at the residence was reinforced immediately. Police allege the attack was carried out on instructions from the Shubham Lonkar gang, with extortion and intimidation of the film industry cited as the motive, a pattern consistent with organised crime attempts to establish underworld dominance. During preliminary questioning, Kumar allegedly confessed and named three associates: Sunny, Deepu, and Sonu. He is the ninth arrest in the case; earlier detainees include Pradeep Sharma alias Golu, Deepak, and Vishnu Kushwaha. Kumar has since been transferred to Mumbai Police custody. The case is registered under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Arms Act, Maharashtra Police Act, and the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act.
