The UN has warned that the US-Iran standoff at the Strait of Hormuz risks a global food emergency. The strait carries roughly 20 percent of world oil supply, and disruption there would drive up energy and food costs globally. Trump is currently reviewing a peace plan to ease tensions with Iran.
